MY LUCKY STAR

I wake up one morning,

brush my teeth, take a look

in the mirror and surprised

to see I’m no longer there.

I had known, pretty soon,

I wouldn’t be here, or there,

or anywhere.

Wings sprout on my feet.

I become an alchemical mix,

of my scent, eyes and fingerprints.

An elixir of the root of my soul

sends me off with a Napoleonic flair.

With the sky above, earth below,

and the fire burning within me,

I follow a flock of triumphant

Whooper Swans zooming higher

and higher until I reach my Lucky

Star
